Transphobia in the LGB Community
Saturday, September 1st, 2012Unfortunately, this can be the case.
Unfortunately, this can be the case.
Congratulations on your liberation, Laura. I can relate to the feelings you had pre-transition. Hormones ended up bringing balance where it never seemed to exist before.
I hope you father can open his mind and learn what it means to be transsexual. Hopefully, he will come around.

A month after Rolling Stonepublished its interview with Against Me!’s Tom Gabel announcing he will undergotreatments to become a woman, the punk rocker couldn’t be happier.
“My life improves every single day,” Gabel, 31, who now goes by Laura Jane Grace, tells MTV News in her first interview as a woman. “It feels like I’m in control of my life, and I’m in control of my person, and that’s empowering. Saying to someone, ‘I’m a transsexual’ is the most empowering thing I’ve ever felt in my whole life.”
BE HAPPY LAURA!

I am going to keep my participation in this current war, to a minimum. In the title you see “Die Cis Scum”. This is said by a lot of those in the transgender community, who are actively battling radfems. Can you please stop doing this? Not only is it repulsive, but it also hurts your cause. There are a lot of feminists who fight for our inclusion in feminism, and when they see something like this, it probably offends them.
Please try to be “violent free”. I know we are an oppressed group. We are oppressed as women and trans women. We get a double dose of discrimination thrown at us. When you use violent rhetoric against people, others that might have wanted to help us, may turn their backs on us.
SAY NO TO VIOLENT RHETORIC!
Have a nice day.
This is good.

An employer who discriminates against an employee or applicant on the basis of the person’s gender identity is violating the prohibition on sex discrimination contained in Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, according to an opinion issued on April 20 by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). The opinion, experts say, could dramatically alter the legal landscape for transgender workers across the nation.
