The Department of Health and Human Services promises LGBT groups it will investigate complaints about gender identity discrimination in health programs that receive federal funding.

Federal health-care programs and those funded with federal dollars are barred from discriminating against transgender people, a senior official with the Department of Health and Human Services told LGBT advocacy groups in July — a sweeping decision that will impact most health-care services across the country.

Why is this so important? Here is one reason. Tyra Hunter died because of transphobia.

 Tyra Hunter didn’t die at the point of a gun or a knife, she died because of medical transphobia   The transphobe who was responsible for her untimely death was wearing the uniform of a Washington DC Fire Department EMT.

“inflammatory, inappropriate, unprofessional, a form of Homo-phobia[sic], and sexist remarks. The comments were relative to the patients gender and sexual orientation, because the patient appeared to be female. The remark was something to the effect, that ain’t no woman, that’s a man. The bitch got a dick and balls.”

Although there is conflicting testimony whether other Fire Department and EMS personnel similarly withheld medical services, there is no evidence to contradict the statements of the neighborhood witnesses that the “pants-cutter” stopped treatment. Instead of helping Hunter, the pants-cutter made jokes and laughed with his partner. Hunter died shortly thereafter in the hospital.

I have never eaten at a Chick fil A but I hear that there food is pretty good. However, this company causes actual harm to the entire LGBT community and those that are concerned with this, should never eat there. Eating there is about the same as sending your money to the hate groups. Please boycott Chick fil A!

Dan Cathy, the chief operating officer of Chick-fil-A, said there is no denying that his company opposes marriage equality.

Cathy said that he does not feel right billing Chick-fil-A as a Christian business because, as Christian business mentor Fred Roach once said, “There is no such thing as a Christian business … Christ never died for a corporation.”

However, Cathy told the Baptist Press he aims to operate the restaurant chain “on biblical principles.” When asked whether his company had an established position against marriage equality, Cathy said, “guilty as charged.”

I think that rejecting the transgender label is futile.

Lets get real here. The public is starting to accept us but via the transgender label. This is an indisputable fact. If Janet Mock and Isis King can accept transgender then so can I.

The transgender community needs to learn how to talk to non-transgender identified transsexuals. NAZI, transsexual taliban and worse, is not the way to bring unity.

After the radfems attacked the transgender community, over the last several months, I have been doing some soul searching and one thing I told myself is that I do NOT want to look like them. I was disgusted by what I saw and am grief-stricken by my part in some of this war. I actually helped hurt some of my sisters and I am paying for it in my own heart.

I think now is a time for solidarity.
